For centuries, people believed that the universe was fixed and unchanging. However, in the early 20th century, scientists discovered something extraordinary: the universe is not static but continuously expanding. This idea was first supported by the famous astronomer Edwin Hubble, who observed that galaxies are moving away from each other. The farther a galaxy is, the faster it moves away. This discovery completely changed our understanding of the cosmos.
According to modern science, the universe began with the Big Bang, and ever since, space itself has been stretching, making galaxies drift apart. Scientists describe this process as the expansion of space, not galaxies flying through space. This ongoing expansion shows that our universe is dynamic, alive, and full of mysteries yet to be uncovered.
The Qur’an mentioned this truth long before modern science. In Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51:47), Allah says:
“And We built the heaven with might, and indeed We are [its] expander.”
This ayah clearly points to the concept of an expanding universe, revealed more than 1400 years ago. It reminds us that the Qur’an and modern discoveries are not in conflict but in harmony, each deepening our awe for the Creator’s power and wisdom.
This connection between faith and science invites us to look beyond formulas and telescopes, to see the universe as a sign of Allah’s greatness, expanding every moment by His command.
کائنات کا پھیلاؤ
صدیوں تک لوگ یہ سمجھتے رہے کہ کائنات ایک جگہ رکی ہوئی ہے اور اس میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں آتی۔ مگر بیسویں صدی کے آغاز میں سائنس دانوں نے ایک حیران کن حقیقت دریافت کی کہ کائنات جامد نہیں بلکہ مسلسل پھیل رہی ہے۔ مشہور ماہرِ فلکیات ایڈون ہبل نے یہ مشاہدہ کیا کہ تمام کہکشائیں ایک دوسرے سے دُور جا رہی ہیں، اور جو کہکشاں جتنی دُور ہے، وہ اتنی ہی تیزی سے دور جا رہی ہے۔ اس دریافت نے انسان کی کائنات کے بارے میں سوچ بدل دی۔
جدید سائنس کے مطابق، کائنات کی ابتدا Big Bang سے ہوئی اور تب سے خلا خود پھیل رہا ہے جس کی وجہ سے کہکشائیں ایک دوسرے سے دور ہوتی جا رہی ہیں۔ اسے کائنات کا پھیلاؤ (expansion of space) کہا جاتا ہے۔ یہ مسلسل پھیلاؤ اس بات کی نشانی ہے کہ کائنات زندہ ہے، متحرک ہے اور اس میں بے شمار راز پوشیدہ ہیں۔
قرآنِ کریم نے اس سچائی کا ذکر صدیوں پہلے کیا۔ سورۃ الذاریات (51:47) میں اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتے ہیں:
“اور ہم نے آسمان کو قوت سے بنایا اور ہم یقیناً اسے وسعت دینے والے ہیں۔”
یہ آیت صاف طور پر کائنات کے پھیلاؤ کی طرف اشارہ کرتی ہے۔ یہ ہمیں یاد دلاتی ہے کہ قرآن اور سائنسی حقائق ایک دوسرے کے مخالف نہیں بلکہ ایک دوسرے کی تائید کرتے ہیں۔ کائنات کا ہر گوشہ اللہ کی قدرت کی نشانی ہے جو ہر لمحہ اُس کے حکم سے پھیل رہی ہے۔
